Thank you so much for your support of the Newport Harbor High School Sailing Team for the 2022 ISSA Mallory Dinghy Nationals (the double-handed nationals for high school sailing), the weekend of June 4th/5th at Mission Bay Yacht Club. We qualified for Nationals on May 12th/13th at MBYC in the Pacific Coast Championships by placing 3rd out of 22 Teams. For Mallory, 8 of us travelled to San Diego on Friday to get in a short practice session to get comfortable with the venue and conditions. After typical June gloom in the mornings, we had a beautiful 2 days of racing on Mission Bay with excellent race committee work. 2 of our Team even managed to sneak off to the NHHS prom Saturday night in Dana Point! While we were as high as 2nd at one point in the regatta, we ultimately finished 7th out of 20 teams from around the country and hope to leverage this experience into a higher finish next year. On behalf of our entire Team, thank you for your support for this regatta and your support of our Team throughout the year.

Thank you so much for supporting my opportunity to compete in the C420 Mid-Winter Championships in Jensen Beach. This was my 4th time attending this event and each year my results have improved! My crew, Sophia Mulvania, and I enjoyed sailing a regatta with consistent breeze and great conditions. We traveled to Florida with our team, the Newport Beach Club 420 Race Team (NB4T), which consisted of 40 sailors from both the East and West coasts. With 5 coaches we had a dominating presence at the event.

I traveled to Florida this February to compete in my second C420 Mid-Winter Championships in Jensen beach. Over 150 boats were registered for this event. The winds were consistent providing 10-15 knots for all three days of racing. Days 1 and 2 proved strong for me with top finishes on both days of qualifying. I went into the championship day in third place, but unfortunately, I did not put up the races I anticipated and finished 6th overall at the event. Thank you for supporting me and my crew Sophia Pearce at this event. I look forward to sailing this event again next year.
READ ARTICLEAfter some training and preparation, it was time to go to Clearwater and compete in the US Open event for Laser radials and standards. I would be competing in the radial. This would be a challenge because there were plenty of US and International women who were trying to go to the Olympics who were entered. The top twenty at the event were all experienced Laser competitors.
On the first day of the event it was windy. I had good starts but I was a hair off the pace of everyone else. I had a pretty terrible day. When I came in I found out my boat was full of water. Unfortunately I did not have a leak tester kit or resin. Even if I did it was almost dark and it was cold, so it would not cure. So I just had to deal with it.

Thank you so much for supporting us at the 2022 C420 Midwinter Championship in Jensen Beach, Florida! It was Ryan and I’s first Midwinters and second regatta sailing together, and we ended up finishing in 4th out of 118 boats. It was a great experience for us to learn from the varying conditions and great coaches.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support, which allowed me to travel to Jensen Beach, Florida to compete in my first C420 Midwinter Championship. After one practice day and three race days, my crew Richard Jr. and I ended up finishing 11th out of 118 boats. Although we had hoped for a higher finish, I still gained tons of experience and am looking forward to lots of training and our next race.
