Thank you so much for your generous funding that allowed me to travel to Miami, Florida to race in the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta hosted by Coral Reef Yacht Club. I had so much fun with teammates and other sailors during my week there. The conditions varied significantly. The first day was fairly light wind; the second day was medium wind; the third day had gusts of 17 knots; and the last day had almost no wind. I did not sail as well as I hoped on the last two days, but I definitely learned a lot from my mistakes. Thank you so much for allowing me to have this amazing experience!

I am hugely grateful for your support for the Bolle International Youth Match Race regatta! It was a wonderful experience to check off a bucket list sailing venue, Sydney Harbour, and compete with some of the best youth match race teams in the world. I did bow for my longtime friend Max Brennan, and we, along with Peter Sangmeister and fellow NHYC sailor Morgan Pinckney, had a blast sailing in the 5-25kts, ultra-shifty offshore conditions we saw almost all week. The fleet was as highly competitive, if not more so than the Governor’s Cup, and the races were mostly 1-mistake and done. I struggled being back on the bow after months of exclusively skippering in match race regattas. In the end, we didn’t get the result we were looking for coming 6th, but we learned a ton, and it was perhaps the most fun regatta experience I’ve had to date. Many thanks!

I am so grateful that I was able to sail all the regattas this summer, New Englands, Nationals, Ida Lewis, North Americans, CJ Buckley, and South Shore. I got experience and all the fun and exciting challenges throughout each regatta.

Thank you so much for your support of my competing in the Hinman (US Team Race Nationals). The event was held in Norfolk, VA, and was the largest team race regatta ever held in the US with 30 teams. Our team consisted of all current Georgetown sailors including myself and fellow NHYC member Wills Cook. The regatta was a Swiss-league format so we raced a variety of teams over 3 days ranging from current college teams, to recent alumni, to teams made up of Hinman veterans. It was quite the weekend and once the dust had settled we ended up finishing in 10th place barely missing out on the quarter-finals. Overall, I had a blast this weekend competing against the best team racers in the nation, and want to thank the Foundation again for their support.
READ ARTICLETeam NHYC had a great weekend at the Lee Family Trophy in Oyster Bay on Long Island in early October. Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club annually hosts a 3v3 team race in Sonars and this year was particularly enjoyable with the warm weather and fall foliage. As a team, we qualified for the final four after two competitive round robins in 8-10 knots over the course of two days. The highlight of the regatta for me was hearing from Bruce Lee speak to the teams about how it is not about the sailing, but about the people and friendships that you develop through the sport of sailing that stick with us forever. We are very grateful for the foundation's support and lucky to surround ourselves with amazing sailors and friends as we enjoy being on the water together.

Thank you for the generous grant to support the Mater Dei High School Sailing Team for the 2022-2023 season.
Our team is off to a great start as we just won the 2022 Sea Otter Regatta, qualified two sailors to compete in the Cressy, Single-Handed National Championship, won the SoCal #1, and won the 2022 Keel Boat Challenge held at SDYC. Next on the schedule is the Girls Invitational Regatta at MBYC where we will have one team competing.
We continue to practice three times a week, honing our skills and building our teamwork, with our eyes on the 2023 Mallory and 2023 Baker Cups.
