We arrived to the 2021 Baker Team Racing High School National Championship prepared to train on Friday, but the conditions presented 18-20 knots. The host club decided that these conditions were too heavy and prevented the teams from training that day. This was a set back for MDHS as we were planning to train with our heavy air crew to prepare for the following day's forecast of 20 knots.

David Wood and Daniel Pegg at the 2020 49er North Americans

Thank you so much for your consideration and generosity to get myself and my crew Daniel Pegg across the country to Miami for the 2020 49er North Americans. The event itself was so amazing and the lessons we learned were unmatched to any other coaching we have received in the past four months. In addition to the sailing lessons we learned we were able to make so many amazing connections with the Olympic Team and the Olympic Development Team. These connections helped us to become part of the ODP team and be able to do other events and training camps in the future.

Reade Decker at the C420 Mid Winter Championships

Thank you very much for your financial grant support of my trip to Jensen Beach, FL for the C420 Mid Winter Championships. I had a great time competing in the 100 boat fleet this year. The weather was a little tricky, and did not always cooperate, only allowing a total of 8 races in 3 days. I had the privilege of Marbella Marlo flying down from College to compete with me. It was great to get back into competition. I look forward to many more C420 events this Spring and Summer.

Chase Decker at Three i420 Regattas in Miami

Posted Apr 19, 2021
Sailors: Chase Decker |Tyler Wood

This past few months have been busy for me traveling to Miami to race i420s. Through your generous support this has been possible. I have competed in the i420 Orange Bowl, the i420 North American Championships and the i420 Mid Winter Championships all hosted in Coconut Grove, Miami Florida.

My success in these events has earned my partner, Tyler Wood, and me an invitation to the US National Team for i420s and an opportunity to compete in the i420 World Championships in Italy. This is a great honor and achieving this invitation would not have been possible with out the continued support of NHSF. I am proud to be representing the our Newport Bay at these National events.
