I really appreciate your consideration in helping me compete in the 2021 C420 Nationals at Brant Beach, New Jersey. Conditions weren’t as we’d hoped for, and we were only able to get a few races off throughout the three days, but it was still a great experience. After 1 practice day and 3 race days, my brother and I ended up placing 20th out of 132 boats.

Thank you to the Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation for financially supporting my travels to Brant Beach, NJ for the 2021 Club 420 National Championship. This was a very enjoyable experience and a great way to wrap up our summer sailing.

The Sunday before the regatta started, Morgan and I spent the day driving from Rochester, NY all the way to Brant Beach, which took a little under 7 hours. We briefly visited the yacht club and the venue before heading over to our hotel and checking in for a night of rest. The next morning, we met up with our team and coach, Augie Dale, to unload boats and rig. After getting all sorted, we got out on the water for practice. The sailing area was just inside the bay, so we had nice, flat water with no chop. The water was also pretty warm, which was a very nice change of pace from the rainstorm and freezing temperatures we experienced in Rochester. We ended up only getting in a few hours of practice before the wind completely died, which was more than other teams got.

Thank you so much for helping fund my trip East to sail in the c420 New England Championships in Connecticut. It was a great event, and the first event toward the c420 Triple Crown for my skipper (Zoey Ziskind) and I. This was our second regatta together, and we were fortunate to have three coaches to pull information from. This was an advantage as all three were able to provide different perspectives for us to draw upon.

Chase Decker at the C420 New England Championship

Thank you for helping to make my attendance at the C420 New England Championship possible.  The event was hot with a lack of wind, but a great chance to train and sail for the upcoming summer events.

Day one saw light conditions which proved challenging. My crew, Tyler Wood, and I worked together to make smart tactical decisions in the light conditions.  On day two, our learning from day one yielded us two top ten finishes.  At the conclusion we placed just out of the top ten for this event of 70 boats. We hope for better conditions and results at the upcoming C420 events this summer.

Dylan Sih at the C420 North American Championships

I really appreciate your kindness and financial support in helping me compete in the C420 North American Championships at Rochester, New York. After a super long regatta of 2 practice days, 4 regatta days, and 15 races, we ended up finishing 10th out of 91 boats.

On the first practice day, we arrived on site midmorning, unloaded our boat from our trailer, and began setting everything up. After finishing settings, we headed out for a short practice on our own to get warmed up. The second practice day, we were one of the first teams to get out, so we had some private coaching with Outfit Sailing coach Lior for an hour before the reset of the group came out. After perfecting our light wind speed and boathandling, we headed in to get rest for the long regatta ahead.
