Once my crew Kennedy Leehealey and I wrapped up some training in Rhode Island, it was time to take the long car ride to Rochester, NY, for the C420 North Americans. I had just been in Rochester for the Rose Cup, so it was a familiar venue.

Thank you so much again for all of your support in my sailing events. The C420 South Shore Championship in Long Island, NY, was my last planned event for the summer, but unfortunately, after a quick trip to the ER and a couple of stitches, I found myself sitting this regatta out. Nonetheless, it was still a good experience, as my brother Nathan was still able to sail, I got to go out on a race committee boat with Rear Commodore Steve to watch, and most importantly of all, I learned to deal with disappointment and frustration.

This was a great opportunity for Morgan and I to sail against the best c420 sailors from all over the country. We also got the chance to learn from very experienced sailing coaches.

Thank you so much for supporting my trip out to Rochester, New York for the US Youth Match Racing Championship for the Rose Cup. I really appreciate your help in making this experience possible for me. Here is a summary of my experience out east.
Before the regatta, our team (Morgan Pinckney, Sophia Pearce, Jack Flores and I) had arranged a practice session in Sail Newport, RI. Morgan and Sophia were already in Newport from a prior C420 clinic, and Jack had flown out earlier as well, leaving me as the last one back in California. After flying out to meet everyone, we then met up with our coach for the next two days, Albert Nichols. Albert helped us dial down all our boathandling maneuvers and match racing moves to get us all set for the upcoming regatta.
