Thank you very much for supporting my trip down to Mission Bay to compete in my first Bic O’Penn Skiff Regatta. This “unregatta” is known for fun and it was definitely that…unless being taken out by the Tower of Doom! On the first day, the weather was sunny and perfect with wind conditions around 10 knots. This lasted all weekend, expect for Saturday, when the wind died down and we got to practice our light wind sailing tactics. With 85 boats on the starting line, it was a great opportunity to practice within a large fleet. Skippers traveled as far as Thailand and New Zealand to compete for 3 days. The Bic maneuvers much more quickly than any other boat I have sailed and it was fun practicing this against my fellow sailors. Whether flipping at the starting line, standing for a leg of the race, or catching my mast and dragging the tower of doom with me, I learned a lot and was able to finish 1st in the 12U division.
