C420 New England Results

I am so grateful that I was able to sail all the regattas this summer, New Englands, Nationals, Ida Lewis, North Americans, CJ Buckley, and South Shore. I got experience and all the fun and exciting challenges throughout each regatta.

C420 New England Championship

New Englands in Cape Cod was one of my favorites. The conditions were medium to light, but I experienced an 80 boat fleet on one line. It was a different experience going from a 30-40 boat fleet to an 80 boat fleet but my skipper and I enjoyed the challenge.

C420 North American Championship

North Americans in Canada was a tough but fun one. After taking a red eye flight from Ida Lewis and sailing at 9am the next morning, I was proud that I was able to push through and sail the practice and 4 day regatta. The weather in Canada was very exciting. Most days we were postponed because there was no wind but the next day we were postponed from a lightning storm. It was fun to experience the chaotic mess of flipping multiple times on the windy day to sailing the next day in almost no wind.

CJ Buckley Team Racing

CJ Buckley Team Racing in Rhode Island was one of my favorites, it’s such a different experience getting to sail a C420 with no traps or spinnaker. Even though I love fleet racing, team racing is very different. I got to sail with a different skipper who has taught me so much about team racing and I am very excited for my future in team racing. I had such a fun and loving team race team who always supported each other and accepted everyone’s mistakes without getting mad.

C420 South Shore Championship

South Shore in New York was one for the books, my skipper and I in the lighter wind the first day were in the top 10. Even though we didn’t do as well the last days we learned so much about the boat after a break down we had on a reach mid-race causing us to retire. Thankfully, we had amazing coaches who helped us find a new part and we’re able to sail the next few races.

Based on the great experiences I had sailing on the east coast and west coast this summer; I will be continuing my sailing in multiple regattas this school year. I really appreciate all the funding provided to allow me to have all these amazing experiences. Thank you so much!
