Tate Oyler at the 2023 C420 Midwinters
Club 420 Midwinters had 120 boats competing in two varieties of winds. It was supposed to be a three-day regatta, but we did not get any racing on Monday for the Championship round since there was little to no wind. On the first day we had 20-25+ knots of wind with consistent chop and wind staying consistent throughout the race day. Sam Hemans and I had a decent first day with all top 10 finishes in our races, our first day fleet was very competitive. The second day there was a lot less wind, it consisted of 5-10 knots and favorable weather. We were placed in a new fleet and our goal was to try for top 5 finishes. We had a good day finishing 4,8,5,5. This was my first time Sailing at Midwinters, and we ended up in 16th overall, the scores were all very tight with 5th place just 12 points in front of us.
