I went to the 2025 C420 Nationals in Hyannis, Massachusetts for my second regatta of the summer. My skipper, Kingston Keyoung, and I began practice in Hyannis July 20th, and began racing the 21st. The first two days were flight selection, and the third was racing in our fleets. The practice day was windy, but for the first day of racing the wind had died off, allowing for a limited number of races the first day of flight selection. Kingston and I got top 10 However, the next day of flight selection the wind built, and we were able to get off more races. We improved on our close-quarters boat handling at the windward mark and our downwind tactics the first day. The next day of flight selection, Kingston and I secured our spot in the gold fleet, and continued with our top 20 scores. The last day of racing was the most fun I had in a while sailing, because the breeze was on, and the competition was some of the best. In the end, we ended up getting 29th overall in the regatta. It was not our best by any means, but the conditions and company made for an incredibly fun regatta. Thank you so much Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation for allowing me to compete in these high-level regattas!
