Olivia Norton at the 2024 C420 Midwinters Championship
Thank you so much Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation for supporting my sailing. I appreciate everything you do so much! I had the opportunity to sail at the C420 Class Midwinter Championship February 17th-19th at Jensen Beach, Florida, with my skipper Conrad Cook. This was my first trip to Mid Winters and it was a great experience. Conrad and I took a redeye flight on Thursday night to make it for Friday practice, then raced Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Saturday was really nice conditions with great sailing weather. Sunday was raining so hard the R/C only ran 1 race because of visibility problems. Monday was nuclear winds, between 22 knots and 28 knots. A lot of the fleet was not able to complete the Monday races, but Conrad and I finished every race and had some good finishes.
We made the Gold Fleet, and ended up moving up 7 spots on Monday during the heavy wind day. I learned so much about travel, keeping my head in the game during tough conditions, and finishing strong. Thank you again for everything the foundation does to support youth sailing. Your support is such a huge help.
