The 2024 Sabot Nationals was my 4th and likely final Sabot Nationals. This event was a different experience than I am used to as it was hosted at SDYC and we sailed in La Playa, which is known to be very challenging. I would say that SDYC went above and beyond with how well organized and exciting it was after not hosting for 62 years. I enjoyed learning about the history of Sabot Nationals and seeing some of the past winners at the Opening / Welcome event. 

I usually don’t enjoy sailing at La Playa because of the conditions, but it ended up being very fun and the wind was pretty good. After the flight selection day, I was able to get into the Gold Fleet. I ended up not performing as well as I would have liked in the Gold Fleet ultimately placing 21st, but it was a great overall sailing experience and I enjoyed bonding with my team and other sailors throughout the regatta. Thank you NHSF for this grant. I look forward to continuing sailing in high school.
