Julia Getter at the 2024 C420 Midwinter Championship
Thank you to the Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation for helping support my sailing at the 2024 C420 Midwinter Championship. This year, the regatta was on February 17-19 at Jensen Beach, Florida. This was my second Midwinters, and I was so excited to go back. My skipper, Jordan Janov, and I flew out on Thursday to practice on Friday, one day before the regatta started. On the first day of racing, Saturday, the first race was very light, shifty, and tough. Then, there was a huge wind shift, and the breeze picked up significantly to around 15 knots. We completed two races in this perfect wind before heading in for the day. Sunday was raining hard, and we were postponed on land for a while before the race committee finally sent us out. By the time we got out, it was around 18 knots, and we completed one race. Monday was around 23 knots with gusts of around 26 knots. We completed three races in this breeze to finish off the regatta. In the end, my skipper and I finished sixth overall. This was probably the windiest I had ever sailed in before, and I had so much fun. I learned so much from this amazing experience, which the Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation made possible. Thank you so much for your support!
