In February my partner Noah Stapleton and I competed in the 2025 C420 Midwinters in Jensen Beach, Florida. My family and I flew out to Jensen Beach with probably half of the Southern California contingent! It was a pretty fun start to the regatta.
I was looking forward to this regatta because the forecast was for sun and warm temperatures, a huge step up from last year’s cold front that resulted in wet and extremely windy conditions for two out of three days of competition! This year the breeze was good but steady, and we got in three solid days of racing.
Noah and I had an amazing first day of qualifying and finished the day at the top of the leaderboard.
On the second day the good weather and solid racing conditions continued, and we had another great day on the water.
Unfortunately, we had an issue with our kite in the final race which led to us having to retire and ended our bid for the top spot. We finished 4thand many of our friends placed in the top 10 as well, which was fun to see.
This regatta was a lot of fun (warm conditions always help!), and there was also lots of time off the water to spend with friends from around California and the country. Thank you so much to Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation for generously contributing to our trip and making it possible. We are so grateful for your support!
