Thank you so much for your generous help which allowed me to compete at the 2022 CJ Buckley Team Race National Championship. This has always been one of my favorite events as I love to team race, and I had an amazing experience in both sailing and meeting college coaches. After 2 days of racing, our team ended up in 10th out of 24 teams.

This regatta was our team's first time sailing together, as one of our skippers was from Santa Barbara, another from San Diego, and myself from Newport Beach. Nonetheless, we got off to a good start, winning the first 3 races, and working our way to a 5:1 record. However, this regatta was formatted with swiss league, meaning as we won races, we got matched against better teams who had also won more races, so we began to struggle during the second half of the day.

At the start of the next day, our team had mentally reset and gained focus to try to make it into the final 4. Things were looking good, as we got off to a nice start, winning our first two races. However, with some silly mistakes and penalty turns, we ended up losing our last two races, leading us to barely miss the final 8.

Although we didn’t get the results we would have liked, I still had an amazing time sailing in Rhode Island, and gained lots of experience in both team racing and how to come back from losses. Thanks again for all of your generous help, I really appreciate the support!
