Chase Decker at the 2022 CJ Buckley Team Race
Thanks to your support I was honored to represent the Newport Beach C420 Race Team (NB4T) at the 2022 CJ Buckley Team Racing event this year. I joined fellow teammates, Reade Decker and Peter Busch to compete against 24 teams from across the country. This two-day event was held at Goddard park in East Warwick, RI. On day one we went 9-1, as the regatta was held in a Swiss League rotation with 120 races being completed on the first day.
On day two we saw great conditions again and 48 races were held. The Gold Fleet consisted of four teams, a fellow NB4T team, and two East Coast teams. We sailed in a best-of-three series. We then advanced to the finals, making the best of 5 race finals a West Coast battle. We won our first two races, lost the third, and came back strong to defeat our rivals and teammates, crowning us the 2022 C420 team Racing National Champions!
